<p>The &#8220;Potential&#8221; group was created at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management and works in the creative atmosphere of the Department of Automation of Electrotechnical and Mechanotronic Complexes.</p>



<p>The activity of the circle is guided by the principles of equality of its members, self-government, openness and transparency of activity, organic connection of research work with the educational process.</p>



<p>The group deals with engineering developments, development of stands and research of device modes that are closely related to the specialty of the department, in-depth study by students of the chosen discipline.</p>



<p>The achievement of the &#8220;Potential&#8221; group is the receipt of more than 90 patents for useful models, and the participants are also actively involved in the preparation of publications for scientific journals and conferences, which helps to gain more in-depth knowledge of the chosen educational program.</p>

<p>Dzundz student Boris mastered a 3D printer and received a patent for a useful model.</p>



<p>Andriy Gorobets was awarded a 1st degree diploma for the scientific work &#8220;Energy regimes of an asynchronous electric drive of a pump installation with an inverter&#8221; based on the results of the 2nd round of the All-Ukrainian competition for student scientific works, and also has two patents for useful models.</p>

<p>Students, members of the &#8220;Potential&#8221; group, performed a study of the energy modes of an asynchronous electric drive with a frequency converter, evaluated the intervals of energy-efficient operation of the pumping unit using an experimental and research stand. With the help of the stand, experimental studies of the modes of operation of the pumping unit were carried out. The range of energy-efficient operation of the pumping unit with a frequency converter, which is limited to the control frequencies of 18 ÷ 43 Hz, was determined, the energy overexpenditure at frequencies close to 50 Hz, which is more than 15% compared to the direct connection of an asynchronous electric motor to the power network, was estimated. The results of the research are shown in the graphs.</p>

<p>The work of the GEOTRON circle is based on combining information from a number of disparate and separate areas of science and technology: geotronic systems, mechanics, electrical engineering, electromechanics, microelectronics, information technologies, power electronics and other scientific and technical disciplines.</p>



<p>The main goal of creating GEOTRON as a scientific circle is the development of fundamentally new functional nodes, blocks and modules that implement new functions that are used as a basis for mobile intelligent machines and systems in various spheres of human activity.&nbsp;In this regard, the subject of the GEOTRON circle is various processes of creating systems and machines capable of solving important scientific problems in such fields as electromechanics, energy, electrical engineering, resource conservation and geotechnics.</p>

<p>The purpose of creating the circle is to provide favorable conditions for effective scientific and cognitive activity, development and organization of students&#8217; leisure time, their intellectual and cultural education in the student environment of KPI named after&nbsp;Igor Sikorsky.</p>



<p>The main scientific and practical tasks of the circle:</p>



<p>– systematization of acquired theoretical knowledge of students in the field of modeling of mechatronic systems;</p>



<p>&#8211; preparing students for participation in scientific competitions, Olympiads, scientific seminars, conferences, etc.;</p>



<p>&#8211; activation of students&#8217; creative abilities when writing scientific papers, which determines the readiness to create fundamentally new ideas that differ from traditional ones;</p>



<p>&#8211; development of abilities to generalize, analyze and present the results of one&#8217;s own scientific research activities by publishing the results of scientific research, reports at conferences, competitions, etc.;</p>



<p>– increasing the level of use of information sources for scientific research;</p>



<p>&#8211; expansion of students&#8217; knowledge system, continuous improvement of their intellectual level through self-education;</p>



<p>&#8211; the ability to implement the results of scientific research in the development of working models and equipment of electrical engineering and mechatronics.</p>

<p>It is very important for students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.&nbsp;This gives an opportunity to participate in most stages of the product&#8217;s life cycle &#8211; from the idea, through analytical studies to design, then &#8211; manufacturing, assembly and operation.</p>



<p><em>The project of a wind turbine with a vertical axis of rotation.&nbsp;</em>Along with a relatively small efficiency, this design is simple, there are no sliding capacitive contacts, there is independence of the output characteristics of the wind turbine from gusts and wind direction, etc.&nbsp;For students, such an object is primarily valuable for its combination of electrical, mechanical and electronic parts.&nbsp;Each of the parts has the opportunity to be investigated in real conditions, the results are analyzed and recommendations are made for the selection of national parameters.</p>

<p><em>The project of creating a milling compact device for working with soft sheet materials.&nbsp;</em>This project is a typical mechatronic device and arouses interest even among humanitarian students.&nbsp;After all, the project has all the signs of mechatronics &#8211; electrical, electronic, mechanical parts, plus a software product.&nbsp;Development, design, assembly and adjustment of such a system is a long but interesting process.&nbsp;The project is still unfinished and there is a lot to work on both theoretically and practically.</p>
