Company SV Altera

As part of the cooperation agreement between the company “SV Altera” and the department of automation of electrotechnical and mechatronic complexes of NN IEE KPI named after I. I. Sikorsky, an online seminar on the topic “Modern WEG frequency converters as an important element of technological process control systems” will be held. The participants of the seminar were students of the first year of the master’s degree, who are currently studying in the specialty “Electroenergetics, electrical engineering and electromechanics”.

At the Department of Automation of Electrotechnical and Mechatronic Complexes, semiconductor converters produced by the WEG company have been successfully used in scientific research for a long time. Their wide interface capabilities allow you to implement various motor control algorithms and obtain graphs of transient processes in real time.

Modern industry increases the requirements for modern frequency converters in terms of functionality. To meet these requirements, WEG has developed new series of CFW300 and CFW500 converters, which, thanks to their modularity, can solve a wide variety of technological tasks. At the same time, the procedure for integrating converters into an existing automation system or developing a new one is greatly simplified.

The seminar was conducted by the engineer of the company “SV Altera” in the field of electric drive, Ph.D. Anton Toropov. The seminar discussed the features of configuring frequency converters using specialized software, the possibilities of building simple automation systems using a built-in programmable logic controller, and the procedure for commissioning such equipment.

Students showed great interest in the presented material, as it fully corresponds to the subject of the educational and professional program “Engineering of intelligent electrotechnical and mechatronic complexes”. The students showed special interest in the procedure of programming controllers using the language of relay-contactor schemes, data exchange interfaces and connection of converters.

In turn, the representative of the company “SV Altera” noted the high level of technical education of students, which encourages further fruitful cooperation with the department.
